U3A is an international organisation started in France in 1972 and in England in 1982. The Grimsby and Cleethorpes U3A began in 1990.

It is a co-operative of older people to allow them, after retirement, to share in many educational, creative and leisure activities. No  qualifications are required beyond interest and enthusiasm. There is no upper age limit.

With the knowledge and experience of members being shared by others, each member can develop their own individual capabilities and out of this grows the programme of cultural, social and recreational activities which is the core of U3A.

Activity Groups form the basis of every U3A and these are organised by members. Each group is autonomous and runs its own affairs. New groups can be formed   if like minded members so decide and the Groups Co-ordinator can help if so desired. These Groups are listed on the Group Activities page.

From Thursday 1st March the meetings will be at the Hotel Elizabeth, Littlecoates Road, Grimsby and thereafter, also at 2pm, on the first Thursday of the month. Local Buses stop nearby and there is a large car park.

A variety of matters is discussed at the meetings often followed by a guest speaker. Please see the Programme page for further information.
